Confessions of a Horrible Decision Maker...

Hello. My name is Chrissi and I am a horrible decision maker.   Like, super horrible. It's ridiculous.

AAHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
TOO
MANY
 FLIPPIN
 OPTIONS!

okay. Now, calmly, the options:

1.Finish Snow....well that's not really an option, it's a must so just assume that all options listed here start right after finishing Snow the beginning of May....OK?
Okey dokey. So  #1- Stay at home for the summer = save on rent/food, work the Malt Shop every. single. day. ya. Save money, and then:
A)Go to SUU for Fall semester, Major in Sociology with a minor in:
                      a)Anthropology or
                      b)English or
                      c)Communications or
                      d)Animal Health or
                      e)GIS
B)Go to USU for Fall semester, Major in:
                      a)Communicative Disorders (Speech Pathology) or
                      b)Sociology or
                      c)Social Work

#2 - Get a summer job somewhere...I've applied to, like, 2O different random summer jobs--most of them are in Alaska :)
A)Work the entire season (May-Sept.), come home and work some more, then go to SUU or USU (see above options) for Spring semester.
B)Work until mid-August, come home in time for Fall semester.

And then there is always option #3 - Go on a Mission. Which can be inserted in there at any time.

So....???

Excuses

This morning while I was getting ready for class I looked around my room and got crushed by piles of homework waiting to be done caving in on me from all directions....YIKES!

So I organized:
English-no class till Tuesday = put off til Saturday pile
Zumba-no homework EVER! = favorite class, no pile
GIS-no class til Monday = put off til Saturday pile
Philosophy-discussions due everyday online = need to do ASAP pile
Communications- ditto ^ = should've done yesterday pile

So I wrote a note (yes I am for sure one of those cheesy people who write themselves notes...all the time. On my hands, on sticky notes everywhere, etc. etc. etc....) I stuck a big note on the NeedToDoASAP/Should'veBeenDone pile that said:

                            TODAY:
                     Catch up! No excuses!

     Well...
I forgot that today was not going to be my normal one-class-no-work-awesome-Thursday.
    Today was Chrissi-is-a-nurse day.

So I don't mind playing nurse. It's fine. Really. I don't mind it. Sure its not convenient. But I sure am glad to be the one that's able to run up and down the stairs 5O times being a go-fer rather than the one with the busted ankle or the walker. Really I'm lucky. But I sure didn't get much done today. Yep, that whole 'no excuses' thing kinda sprouted chubby little legs and ran out the front door. While I watched. Whoops.

Oh but there is a reason I am not going to school to become a nurse....I am horrible when it comes to puke.  uck. icky. I just can't handle it. I feel bad, and real woosy (woosie? wussy? who knows) that I can't handle it. :(  Anyways it's just not good.

So, on I go down the Sociology or English or Anthropology or Social Work or Academic Advising or Animal Health or GIS or (new one!) Speech Pathology roads....I'm not putting Nursing on the table :)

Rain

It is January.             It is pouring rain.

       wait a sec....Now it's hailing.

Where is my winter? Where is my 2 feet of snow and ice sparkling in sunshine?

          wait...now it's slushing...
Maybe we will get there yet.

I just know it has to come sometime and I would much rather have it in January and February than April, May, ....

        Op..now it's back to rain.
At least it's snowing in the mountains where we really need it. But I gotta admit...Snow is in my prayers.

8 WK Challenge: Week 1 Results

          One week down....

  Total: 293 points
  + lost 1.2 pounds (10 points)
 = 303 points

Not too shabby if I do say so myself :)

I'm drinking lots of water and eating fruits/veggies but I really need to work on the 'no eating after 8' thingy. It's hard! ugh but a good habit. I do feel better the next morning when I haven't eaten late....but staying up late and munching is kinda what a college girl does :) I'm trying though. No excuses.    Well.... :)

The 8 Week Challenge

Today I started the 8 Week Challenge...and I am telling you cuz maybe it will motivate me :)

In the challenge you get points for doing healthy things each day like:

  • Exercise 30-45 mins=15 points or 45-60 mins=20 points
  • Drink water, 1 point per 8 oz. glass (max 9)
  • 7+ hours of Sleep=5 points
  • Eat 5 Fruits/Veggies=10 points
  • No eating after 8 pm=5
  • And (since a churchy lady came up with this) Prayer=2 points (max 4)(I am doing 2 for prayer & 2 for scripture study)
You tally up your points for each day and then when weigh-in comes around (once a week) you figure your total points counting these:
  • +10 points if you lost a pound or +5 for 1/2 pound
  • -10 points if you exercised 3 days or less in the week
So 53 points is a perfect day, 33 points for Sunday (rest day, no exercise points), a perfect week is 351 (without weight loss).

The point is to not limit yourself but focus on healthy habits instead, squeezing out the unhealthy ones :) I did this a couple months ago with a group of women in town. We each put in $10 for 'the pot' and came to weigh-ins each week to record our points/weight loss. I thought it was a really good thing for me...when I really tried to do it...For now I am doing this by myself. I am going to keep track of my points and everything. My goal is to at least break 300 points a week...

Today was my first day=48 points. I need to drink more water...

Resolutions

Yes it is that time of year...resolutions time! Looking back at last year's:
         -No grades less than B-
-Lose 30 pounds
-Put $200 from each paycheck ($400/month) straight into savings
I failed 2 classes. I lost 12 pounds. Some paychecks were less, some more.
I didn't do so hot.

      This year:
1. No failing any classes
-keep up on homework
-put homework first

2. Lose 30 pounds
-exercise at least 1 hour at least 5 days a week
-make the '8 week challenge' stick
-eat more fruits and veggies
-no pop
-nothing from the fryers at work

3. Save, save, save
-stick to the budget

4. Work on decreasing selfishness
-put others first
-stop to think before complaining
-serve

5. Read the Book of Mormon completely
-start the day with at least a few verses
-Pay attention to the lessons/apply to my life

And last but not least, borrowed from Nick Lachey:
6. Here's my resolution: I'm letting go. All I need to learn is along this road.
I just want to be the best [girl] I can be. It's my resolution.
